What the next 12 months actually looks like.

Dr Jonathan Ng walks you through the Diploma in Implant Dentistry experience, the curriculum, the hands-on, and the moment a GDP becomes an implant clinician.

The Honest Truth

You didn't spend a decade in dental school to cap out on fillings and crowns.

But the path from "general dentist" to "competent implant clinician" is paved with traps. Most courses make it worse. Here's why.

01

The Income Ceiling

GDP income plateaus around year five. Without implant skills, you stay there. With them, peers in your year are earning 60–100% more by year seven.

02

The Three-Year Detour

A specialist degree takes 3+ years off the chair, $100,000+ in tuition, and competition for a handful of training places nationally. One path. Not the only path.

03

The Weekend Course Trap

$3,000 weekend courses teach you to identify implant components. They don't make you an implant clinician. You walk out with a certificate. You still refer cases.

04

The Self-Taught Trap

YouTube tutorials, journal articles, and watching colleagues. The knowledge gaps you don't know exist are the ones that bite you. Complications find self-taught operators first.

The Transformation

From referring out to placing in. In 12 months.

This is what changes when you complete the Diploma.

Where you are today

The General Dentist

  • Refers every implant case out
  • Watches $4k to $6k per case walk out the door
  • Hits the income ceiling of restorative work
  • Patients lose trust when you can't offer it in-house
  • No formal accreditation to lean on
  • Where you'll be in 12 months

    The Implant Clinician

  • Places solo implants confidently in your own chair
  • Adds $100k+ per year in new revenue, conservatively
  • Holds an EduQual SCQF Level 11 postgraduate qualification
  • Backed by a specialist faculty and an alumni network
  • Direct mentor support when complex cases come in
  • Why The Diploma in Implant Dentistry

Five paths to implant dentistry. One built for general dentists who are done waiting.

    The Solo Implant Guarantee.

The only Australian implant diploma backed by a competence clause. Not a fee-back clause.

By month 12 of the Diploma (once you've completed all hands-on days and online assessment requirements), if you haven't placed your first supervised solo implant or don't feel ready to, you repeat the Diploma with the next program. Free.

You complete the program twice. We absorb the cost.

This is not a refund clause. It is a competence clause. We back our program because we have seen the outcome it produces. If you do the work, you will be ready. If you are not, we keep going until you are.

    • What "repeating" means: A second year's access to the online LMS, the live online interactive sessions, the mentorship hotline, and the hands-on program, at no additional cost.
    • What it does not include: A second postgraduate accreditation. The Diploma is awarded once on successful completion of the program.
    • Alternative offered at Source's discretion: If you are close to ready, Source may instead offer a one-off in-person supervised first-implant placement with a faculty member, in place of repeating the full Diploma.
    • Hands-on seat availability: Repeating attendees join the next intake subject to seat availability. If the new intake is full, repeating attendees take an observer seat at the hands-on program.
    • Eligibility: You must have completed all required online modules, attended all 9 hands-on days, submitted all assessments, and engaged in good faith with the program.
    • Force majeure: If Source Education discontinues the Australian Diploma program or is unable to run a subsequent intake due to events beyond its reasonable control, the guarantee cannot be honoured.
    • Non-transferable: The guarantee cannot be transferred to another person, exchanged for cash, or applied to a different Source Education program.
    • Activation: Apply for the guarantee in writing within 30 days of your final Diploma assessment.

Voices From Our Implant Program Graduates

What graduates of our predecessor implant program have to say.

The Australian Diploma in Implant Dentistry is our deepest, longest, postgraduate-level program. It was built on the foundation of our 4-day implant program. The testimonials below are from graduates of that predecessor program.

    "
I found it really, really good for someone who has not much knowledge to begin with. It's kind of guided in a really, really nice way to just get started and understand everything in terms of planning, designing the implant and cases that you would wanna start off in the beginning especially. I think it's great that they have multidisciplinary speakers as well, just so that we are covering the implant course in all different like aspects such as like perio, the soft tissue, the restorative and then the surgery as well.
    Natalie Brisbane, QLD
    "
It's a great course to do because the lecturers are very contemporary. They add the latest references, the latest research, and it's all scientific evidence based. The fact that there are many, many fundamental implant courses for beginners, but a lot of them, they're not as progressive because it is really hard to include that into a fundamental course.
    Susan Burdell, QLD
    "
It started, basic and getting more advanced, but perfect for anyone who's in my position who doesn't really have, much of a knowledge about it just yet. The speakers are great, they've been engaged and they've been energetic about the topics - very, very knowledgeable and very receptive to any questions and queries. Getting the perspective from different speakers with their own different knowledge bases rather than just one speaker for the entirety of the course and getting each perspective of theirs, both clinically and theoretically, in my opinion has been what separates this course.
    Georgio West End, QLD
    "
They're all very good lecturers. They've got a wealth of knowledge that they are really generous, will be able to share with us everything, spend a lot of time with us going through all the practical side of things as well. Definitely hundred percent recommends. Whether you're like starting out your implant journey or you're wanting to have a refresher, I think it's a really good program to be able to come and learn those fundamentals again.
    Caitlin Moranbah, QLD
    "
The presenters have all been very sharing and knowledgeable and they're very generous with their time and energy. I've done a few intro courses myself already, but this is so far been the best more friendly course that I've been through. Personally I think that the course is giving me a lot more confidence just with the knowledge that I've learnt.
    Richard Brisbane, QLD
    "
It's very organized and I like how it's a combination with theory and practical together. , I think what I get the most out of this course, first of all is trying to strengthen that basic knowledge because I'm still very new. So getting to learn more of these fundamentals is really something that helps to make me feel more like secure and of course better confidence in delivering if I do implants down the track. I'm learning with a bunch of experienced people is probably another very big take away. Because everyone's on different tracks and so everyone has different knowledge and expertis so it's a good environment like trying to learn from.

    A Word On Fit

Who this Diploma is not for.

If you recognise yourself in any of the below, this might not be the right program, and we'd rather you know now than find out at month 4. We turn down applicants who aren't a fit. So do good programs.

    The 200-hour studier

This is a postgraduate qualification. If you're not willing to commit 200+ hours of self-paced study on top of the live sessions and hands-on days, you won't finish, and you certainly won't pass the assessments.

    Already a specialist

If you're a registered specialist periodontist, prosthodontist, or oral surgeon, this Diploma is below your training level. You'd benefit from advanced surgical fellowships, not foundational implant training.

    The six-month millionaire

If you're expecting to place full-arch cases six months in and earn seven figures by year two, this isn't your program. The Diploma builds you into a careful, methodical, specialist-trained implant clinician. That takes years to compound.

    The hands-on hopper

If you can't commit to all 9 hands-on days across the three in-person blocks, you'll fall behind. Missed days require attendance at the next intake's equivalent session, which delays your accreditation.

The "want a refund mid-program" applicant

The Diploma is a one-time, full-program commitment. Refunds are available up to one month before commencement; a 20% cancellation fee applies after that. Mid-program refunds are not offered for any reason except force majeure.

    Looking for a weekend cert

If you want a certificate to hang on your wall after a long weekend, this isn't it. A postgraduate qualification in implantology takes twelve months. There are shorter courses. We'd rather you take one of them than enrol unhappy.

    Founding Cohort · Not Yet

The Diploma may not be the right fit right now.

Based on your answers, the Founding Cohort would be heavy for where you are today. Most candidates need 2+ years of GDP experience and the ability to attend hands-on. We'd rather tell you that now than after you enrol.

    Questions, Answered

The questions we get on every strategy call.

I'm 5 years into general practice and have never placed an implant. Is this for me?
Yes. The Diploma is built for two profiles: general dentists 2 to 7 years out who want to add implants as a new revenue stream, and experienced GDPs (7 years+) who already place some implants and want formal accreditation. The curriculum starts with foundations and builds up, so even if you've never touched an implant, you'll be on solid ground by hands-on session one.
Is this qualification recognised in Australia?
The Diploma is awarded by EduQual, a regulated awarding body approved by SQA Accreditation, a globally recognised qualifications regulator in the UK. SCQF Level 11 is internationally equivalent to a Master's level qualification. It's a formal post-graduate credential you can list on your professional bio and use in practice marketing.
What if I can't make one of the hands-on sessions?
Each hands-on block is announced months in advance (August 2026, October 2026, April 2027) so you can plan around your practice. If a genuine clinical emergency prevents attendance, we'll work with you to catch up via the next program's session at no additional cost.
    Can I really afford $28,000?
The investment is split into three payments: $2,000 deposit at enrolment, $13,000 one month before the course begins, and $13,000 four months in. At an average Australian implant fee of $4,500, just six placed cases pays back the entire Diploma. The math works hard in your favour if you actually use what you learn.
Is implant dentistry saturated in Australia?
Demographically, the opposite. Australia's population over 65 is growing faster than any other age bracket, edentulous and partially edentulous cases are increasing, and the number of dentists with the confidence and accreditation to place implants is nowhere near keeping pace. Demand significantly outstrips qualified supply.
What is Graduate Diploma in Implant Dentistry and why does it matter?
This is the inaugural program of the Australian Diploma. We're capping it at 20 to maintain a faculty-to-student ratio that future programs won't get. Founding members lock in lifetime alumni access, pricing on every future Source masterclass, and direct access to the faculty who designed the program. None of these benefits will be available to future programs.
What happens after I submit the form?
You'll receive the full prospectus by email within minutes. A faculty member will then reach out to schedule a 15-minute call to answer your specific questions and confirm fit. No high-pressure sales. If the Diploma isn't right for you, we'll tell you, and we'll point you to whatever is.
